Historic Architecture & American Travel Photographer
I’m Susan Tregoning, a photographer based in the Midwest with a passion for documenting the places that tell America’s story. My work focuses on historic architecture, important landmarks, and the landscapes and small towns discovered along the back roads of the United States.
Whether I’m photographing a grand hotel, a quiet railroad depot, or a forgotten main street, my goal is the same: to create images that preserve the character, craftsmanship, and history of the places that shape our sense of home.
My Approach to Photography
- Clean lines and strong compositions
- Honest, documentary‑style detail
- The interplay of light, texture, and age
- The sense of place that makes each location unique
What I Photograph
Historic Architecture - Courthouses, hotels, railroad stations, bridges, mills, and preserved landmarks across the United States, but especially the Midwest.
American Travel & Roadside Heritage - Small towns, scenic byways, national parks, and the unexpected moments found on long road trips.
Railroad & Industrial Sites - Depots, trestles, roundhouses, and the infrastructure that powered American growth.
Nature & Seasonal Landscapes - Quiet forests, river valleys, and the changing seasons & wildlife.
